Artist Statement
My arts practice is inspired by a personal passion with collecting old objects and recreating them into new pieces of work. My concept refers to transforming disregarded objects into objects of beauty and pleasure.
The body of work is a combination of mixed media, painting, drawing and sculpture. I enjoy creating texture and depth within my painting and contrasting this with fine brush work and drawing mediums. I strive to develop contrasts within my work whether I use bold limited palette, varied line and mark making or rough and smooth surfaces. I apply and experience this process through all my work with satisfying results displaying the contrast of old and new, and beauty in fine detail.
The simple discovery of a single disregarded object has been the inspiration to much of my work and I will continue to be inspired by ‘the old’ to create ‘new’.
